I am starting a series of short blog posts that will run weekly over the next two or three months with some questions that employers ask when reviewing resumes. Today is the first in the series.

Who Are You?

This is the first question that anyone will ask when they first look at your resume. Your name should be clearly visible at the top of the (first) page along with at least some basic contact information like you phone number or email address.

Beyond this, you want to make sure that you have a summary of information about yourself. I personally like having a “Career Summary” or “Professional Profile” in which I can highlight my key skills, overall work history and my goals in one place. The rest of the resume will allow me to expand more on those topics and provide greater detail.
